Friday Files {edition two}

It's FRiiiiiii-DaY, lovelies!!!
{anyone who's been reading here long enough knows my deep seeded adoration for this day of the week.  amen and amen.}

In case you are a brand spankity new reader and didn't see the start of this series last week, click over here to get caught up.  It our little attempt at keepin' it real here in the lovely world of blogging.
Cuz com'mon. . . we all have those days.  And somehow it makes us feel better to know that even the most put-together-wife has her moments too.

So without further blubbers and blatherings, here's to our real life this week.

:: Wednesday was my lovely day off.  And as you can tell from above photo, I didn't get nearly enough done.  Hence the dishes left in the kitchen sink.  {At least they are clean, right?!}
:: Seriously.  Whatthewhat is going on with our bodies?!  Random bumps on my arms, poison ivy spots on Hubs face, cold sores on my lip that are hanging on with razor-sharp grip.  "Won't.Die.Will.NOT.Diiiie."
::  Unmade bed for the past . . . I won't say how many days.
::  You guys already heard about the budget talks from yesterday.  It's like we are the US government or something.  Or something.
::  Did I mentioned the dishes that are still in the sink?  It's like they prefer that over the cupboard.  Huh.  Go fig.  {May I remind you they are clean.  Yes?  Thank you.}
:: Kinda freaking out over here because of how complicated it's been getting my visa.  Hello, Mr Chinese Government!  Do you know how difficult it is to fill out your forms and print when we have no printer?!  Thanks for that change in policy.
::  Somedays this week I walked out of the house with uncombed hair.  And no makeup.  {Yup.  Sitting here in public with a naked face people, yo!}
::  I fed my darling, sweet Husband eggs for dinner one night.  At 11:30PM.  Poor boy.
::  And last but definitely not least, I obviously do NOT know how to count.  On yesterday's post we were suppose to share 7 random things about us.  I guess I am reinventing 10 as the new 7.  Yeah.  That's how we roll.

What were your Real Life  moments this week?!

- - -

A very exciting PS.
I was super stealthy awesome and packed the entire car last night and this morning with stuff to surprise Hubs with an overnight camping trip after we get off work tonight.  He's gonna be sooo surprised.
Bless the boy's cotton sock for his rockin' unnoticing skills.
Makes my life so easy sometimes.

We'll report back on Monday with our amazing tales of how our little tent fares and the difficulty of finding roasting sticks in the wild and how much we completely and utterly adore being together.

{happy weekending, lovelies!}

7 Bits 2 Know & 1 Little Memory

Last night was a little hard . . .
{don't judge me for getting one day's jump start on the Friday Files ok?!  Ok.}
After work, we immediately fell into bed for a little resty-roo.
Which somehow turned into talking about work
Which quickly turned into talking about money
Which then turned into talking about our plan for paying off debt
Which accidently turned into a mini grilling sesh, courtesy of Yours Truly.
{Enter Evening-Kill-Joy}

Thankfully I am married to someone who cares about talking through the hard stuff.  Thankfully I am married to someone who sees past his own hurt to comfort and catch my tears.  Thankfully about 27 kisses, 3276 words of communication and 1 budget later, we were able to recover from one night's near disaster.

I was reminded how much I adore this man.  How much I would hate my life if I was walking through the tough stuff with anyone else.  How grateful I am to God for giving me just the person I needed in life.  How last, but definitely not least, I am so glad that he makes such a good cuddle buddy on cold September nights.  Take that, you heated-blanket-that-I-haven't-even-pulled-out-yet!  Boo-YaH.

{here's a little flash back from almost exactly a year ago.  read about the awesome date Hubs planned here}

- - -

Speaking of heated blankets. . . a dear adventuring girl over at this sweet blog AND my good friend who writes about her house adventures tagged us in a little game of sharing 7 random bits about yourself.  So without further ado . . . here are 7 things you should really know about us:

1. We are both firstborns.  She: from a seven-sibling-set.  He: from a set of identical twins. {Take that, you younger-brother-by-twenty-minutes-you!}
2. We have made 9 trips to China, 2 trips to Hong Kong, plus un-countable trips to Mexico. Him: 2 times to India and 1 time to South Korea.  She: 2 times to Canada and 1 time to Australia.
3. He flies planes.  She drives school buses.
4.  He adores avocados.  She abhors them.
5.  He has the mind of a math genius. {the boy works on algebra problems when he's bored}  She has the mind of Psych. {seriously, have me close my eyes and describe this room.  and if you aren't watching the show, get your bum over onto netflix this instant.}
6.  He was a wrestling hottie in highschool and college.  She gets winded on a small flight of stairs.
7.  He can play the radio like a pro.  She has played violin for 11 years.
8.  We spent 90% of our dating/engaged relationship long distance.
9.  We've only kissed each other. . . nobody else.
10.  We are kinda pumped to make and adopt cute babies.  Just sayin'. . .

- - -

To keep the tagging love going, I'll pass this baton onto these lovelies:
If you decide to share seven awesome bits about yourself, link back to our blog and then pass on the love to seven more lovelies!

A Wifey Day

If you were at my house today. . . you would have found me curled up in bed for an exorbitant amount of the morning.  It's the glorious day of the week that I get to kiss Hubs goodbye in the morning and then roll over for a few more sleeps.  Ahhh . . . the high life.

In case my mom is reading this - never fear - I did my share of wifey duties.
- - -
1. washed Hubs wet pile of clothes from his day of tree trimming in the rain
2. showered so I'm clean and silky soft when he gets home
3. organized a closet {ok maybe this was more like a desperate-search-for-my-winter-wardrobe-that-turned-cleaning sesh.  but whatevs.  we now have a clean closet}
4. made myself a late lunch {not that this is a wifey duty but I thought it merited space on the list}
5. thought {operative word here folks} about great dinners I should plan for Hubs
6. folded the heap of clothes that covered our bedroom floor
7. and maybe just maybe caught up on my favorite show of this fall
8. lastly, but definitely not the least, I pranced around the house all day in these super cute boots that came in the mail yesterday.  super-sweet-hot-hubs gave them as a celebratory gift for our three month-iversary.
mhmm i love him

- - -

Now it's off to finish the 27 other things on my list.  Oy.  How quickly these days off go.

PS.  Is this not the most darlingest thang you ever saw?!  While I was out shopping with some dear girls yesterday, this piece practically screamed my name.  Something about how it could take the bill organizing job from our kitchen table?!
Say it with me, lovelies, love at first sight.

{stay tuned for it's new little home here and how it looks nice and clean without patchy white stickers all over}

- - -

First guest post coming Monday!  Hang onto your skirts, lovelies, and prepare to fall in love.

House Tour: The Second

Yesterday was pure loveliness.  A dear friend invited Hubs and I to a home church group through church.  We walked into gorgeous home, not much different than our own {except for the fact that it had furniture - ha!} and the spirit of love and fellowship that was felt instantly, was like a long lost hug from a kindred spirit.

After some peach cobbler and coffee, we cracked open Acts and had some amazing discussion, sharing and prayer.  You wanna know how I was inspired?!  I was reminded again that the hope we have through Jesus is so alive and begs to be shared with those I meet.
Every.single.day.

Kinda like the song I sang with the radio on the way home.  'You put the light, you put the light in me'.
Do ya know how much I crave to know that my life is like a broken jar full of brilliant light that can spill out of the cracks of my humanity?!  To Hubs and the kids on the bus and the lady in the grocery store and my sister on the phone can see Jesus in me.

- - -

In other news. . . House Tour: The Second!!  Drum-th-rowl-pu-leeze!!
{do you remember House Tour: Numero Uno?!  go check it out here so you can be up to speeeed!!}

Our adorable little entrance comes straight to the bottom of the glorious open staircase.
Can't you just see the banisters and wide columns full of garland, lights and bows?!
Please Christmas, come soon.  Pretty, pretty please!

The first and front room has lots of potential.
At the moment we are taking lots of pride in showcasing the beautiful hardwood floors.  I mean seriously, how dare we think of covering them with furniture?!
*wink, wink*

Through those tall, pocket doors is our living room. . . where not a ton of living happens.
Usually life seems to happen on a couch.  Not one broken-armed chair.
I like my nicely organized shelf though.  Oh yes.  And my mostest favoritest baskets in the corner.

Hello real-life kitchen!
{wanted to stay true to the Friday Files . . . ok.  maybe I was too lazy to pick up before photos.  true story}

I have great dreams for this kitchen. . . as it is first on the list for renovating when the checkbook can breathe again.  You muuuust stay tune for the seriously rad redo!  It will rock.your.world.
{ok.  maybe just mine.  but for realz people.}

This antique cupboard is my pride and joy.
Along with the other favoritest baskets.
And my happy colored dishes.
And little red {empty} picture frame.

And here's our happy hangout place right off the kitchen.
Yo.  Seriously best invention ever.  Kitchen and bedroom in such close proximity to each other.
Can you just imagine with me how awesome this will be when I'm like two hundred pounds preggo and I am dying for ice cream and pickles.  Amen and amen.

- - -

Yes.  Our house needs lots of help.  And paint.  And love.  And furniture.
But it's ours and we are uberly thankful and happily in love - with each other, duh.
Oh yeah.  We love our house too.

Ode To Summer

Today is the first Saturday of fall.  And what did we do?!  Lay in bed til one in the afternoon.  Brilliant.  Totally wasted the sunshine of fall.  But you know what we say to that?!  Whatevs.
{Seriously people.  When your work day starts 5:00 and ends after 6:00, you would waste your Saturday sleeping too.   True story.}

Anywayza.  Just popping in to celebrate what a wonderful summer it was.  I mean getting married, honeymooning in the Bahamas, buying a house, visiting sunny California for a month, adventuring into Mexico on a bus and overall perfecting one's kissing skills is not to bad for one summer's accomplishments.  Don'tcha think?!

Gosh I love marriage. . . conflicts, laughter, and all.

- - -

Speaking of which.  Thanks for your sweet responses to yesterdays post.  So encouraging and honest you all are.  Your own true life stories made us laugh.  I can't wait for more next week!
My list has already started again . . .

{happy weekend lovelies}

Friday Files {the REAL edition}

Blogging can be a funny thing.
We get to talk about the things we love about our lives and ignore the things we don't.
We get to get dressed up in our perfectly matched outfits, with perfectly arranged hair and take those rockin' awesome photos.
We get to share the swooning stories of love from our hubbies and leave out the times that harsh words slip out.

It seems to lead us into a trap of portraying our lives to be more magical and perfect then they are in reality.  Now to be fair, I do my own share of everything mentioned above.  So I guess this is confession time for me. . . ok?!  Ok.  Phew, I feel better already.

While I'm all about building up Hubs {he really is amazing} and all about living with the glass half full, there is something to be said about pure and real honesty.  Because com'mon, lovelies, we all know that I wake up with about ten funky cowlicks in my hair and teeth that are full of sweaters.

Here's my attempt at transparency.  So when you read all the swoony stuff, you know that I'm not quit as superficial as I sound.  We really are real people too and have our moments like everyone else.

Welcome to the Friday Files {the REAL edition}
Where you can see a behind the scenes look where we are often less than perfect, sometimes less then sweet but always mostly always laughing .
It's the Neesbys keepin' it real. . . right here.  Ready? Set. GO!

:: Last night Hubs and I spent a solid 15 minutes debating the proper way to make a bed.  Then I found a random toe nail in the sheets.  Lovely.
:: We only have three kitchen chairs.  They don't match.  And one rocks from side to side.  This means only single people can come for dinner.  One.at.a.time.
:: Company policy says all bus drivers must wear safety vests while on the job.  Mine is a Xtra Large and makes me look like a oversized pumpkin.  So much for my cute fall clothes.
:: I locked our only front door key in the house yesterday.
:: I was really stressed the last two days before our wedding.  And I barely did my hair and the house was a mess as we made 12 custom aprons as gifts for the cooks/servers.  Bam.  How's that for REAL edition photos?!
:: Sometimes on rare occasion I like to imagine this blog has a million readers and I pretend I'm writing to each of them.
:: Our living room has one bookshelf, a broken recliner and a pile of picture frames.  Don'tcha wanna come over and hang out?!
:: The only shower in our house has walls so flimsy they warp out and probably leak water.
:: I am driving bus most days.  This means we leave the house at 5:30AM and I drop Hubs at some park or street corner.  I go drive and he waits til 9am when work starts.  This story is called 'Young Couple Is Broke With Only One Car'.

- - -

Gosh that feels good!  What about you?!  Will you share some of your REAL stories?!
And hallelujah, lovelies!  Cuz it's Friday already and that means two whole days of weekending starts in 6 hours. . .

Favorite Colored Stuffs

Yesterday was one the best days I've had in a really really long time. . . period, hands down best.
There is something so glorious about your own bed.  Your own kitchen and dishes.  Your own windows to let in the fall breezes. Your own cozy place for cuddling.

Resembling some near to a motivated wife, I quickly dug out the living room floor.  Then it was onto all those stray boxes that were left in all corners of the house.
{You know what this means?! House tour part two comin' right up!}
I even organized the antique tall cupboard shelves in the kitchen.  Boo-yaah!!

Hubs was super sweet and didn't poke fun once at the freakish organizing operation I was holding.  He even helped by carrying a load of boxes to the attic.  And he hung up all his clothes.  AND even took his dishes to the kitchen after we consumed large amounts of this devilshly delish snack!
Is he good or is he some kinda gooood?!

I even did some grocery shopping last night and happened upon a coupon for two dollars off Kool-Aid juice boxes.  Of course I never buy that sugar water junk {I'd much rather spend my sugars on more sumptuous things like said midnight snack} but I thought Hubs might enjoy it for lunches.
My chest puffed out so proudly when I realized that I was actually getting paid a whopping eleven cents to take that pack of juice boxes off the shelf.
I mean, hello!  Extreme Couponing Show, here I come!!

We're Baaa-haaaakkk!

No thanks to our all time (not)favorite airline, Hubs and I are happily back home in my favorite midwest.
It was a grueling trip. . . vacillating back and forth on the truly best decision to make - pay the $300 for a new one-way ticket or cheaper tickets in a week or road trip with Bro's car or become permanent California citizens?! - -  then the last minute laundry, ticketing-purchasing, packing at two in the morning, and short three hours of sleep.

You would have laughed if you could have seen me walking through the airport. . . my overstuffed favorite beach bag and my notsofavorite roller board with the broken handle.  Trying to pull of the cool look, I carried the 57 pound bag what felt like three miles.  Shoulda swallowed my pride and just hulked that thing up in one big embrace. . . kind of like a purple polka dotted stuffed toy.  Maybe then my neck muscles wouldn't have been in such massive spasms.

On our drive home, we stopped to watch my gorgeous little sissys' track meet.  One of my favorite moments was watching Bethie come around the corner and when she caught sight of us for the first time it was almost as if her excitement propelled her past the girls in front. . . ok.  Maybe that's a slight exaggeration of our cheering talents, but seriously.  It's like we could be professional cheerleaders of something.  Or something, yo.

As much as we will miss Hubs' fam. . . I am horrifically happy to be back in our own little house.  So so so super spulifically happy.  Whatever.  You get the idea.  Today I may dig our living room floor out from the heaps of luggage and random stuffs.  Or maybe I'll just lay in bed . . . I seriously missed the darling thing so much.

A little PS for you darlings!  I am so excited because I have a line up of awesome guest posts for next month.  Remember those awesome blogs that have become a fav for me this summer?!  Yeah.  You are gonna love meeting these lovelies, so don't you dare go away!!

Why I Love Hubs And Hate United

Fiii-nallly back with Hubs. . . Ahhh!!  We were made to be together. Always.  Our hearts are so much more at peace when we can be close to each other.

I took an early bus yesterday to the border and you know what this sweet man did?!  Parked the car on the US side, then walked into Mexico so he could meet me at the bus station and walk with me across the border.  Gollygeewhiz, I love him.
Poor people in the line around us who had to witness sickening levels of PDA.  Sorry peeps.  A week without kissing makes a person all kinds of crazy, yo!

In other random, upsetting news.  I called to check on our tickets for flying home Monday.  You know what they did?!  Cancelled the whole darn ticket because Adam didn't show up for the first part of the ticket

I mean, come ON peoples.  We will pay the difference, just let the man on the flight.  But nope.
'Sah-rry, mahm, the note here says the whole ticket has been cancelled.  The only thing you can do is purchase a new one. . .'
At three hundred dollars a pop for a one way ticket, I think NOT.

AhhggrhghHhHH!!!  Somebody pour me a cup of camomile tea to calm my nerves.  I have been repeating the mantra to myself that God knows and must have some better plan. . . and nothing happens on accident.
And in the meanwhile, we'll sit here and play the guessing game of whether we will get to go home tomorrow or not . . .

Lucky for me, we are going to the LA County fair this afternoon.  Maybe some funnel cakes and ice cream will make me feel better?!

Have an awesome last day of the weekend, lovelies!!

Corners

Can't believe how fast my time in Mexico went.  The days in the community tutoring. The dinners when I stuffed myself with tacos.  The nights of watching shows TV from the little cable coming through the window.  The comfortable, familiar talks before drifting off to sleep.   Poof.  Over.  Done.   I kind of wish it would have lasted forever. . .

Yesterday I got to tag along while Tiffy and Alex went into the communities to invite the kids to an special event this afternoon.  The kids who live in tiny homes made from garage doors propped together. . . kids whose families live on $50 a week. . . kids who walk up the side of a mountain to get to their tiny shack that looks worse than our chicken coop back home. . . the kids who shout out my sister's name as she drives up, 'Tee-paneee!!'

I'm so proud of her.  So.incredibly.proud.  She has found her corner of the world to make a difference in.

While hiking up the mountain to a house yesterday, I thought to myself, 'Dang, this is hardcore. But this is the life.'  Sure it's lonely here. {I know we are gonna cry when I leave}  Sure it's not easy learning a new language.  Sure it's sad being away from your family.  But the payoff from the sacrifices are evident in each child's smile we saw yesterday.

So today I am going back to see Hubs {!}  I am so glad I have been challenged to be faithful in my own corner.  Right where God has put me.

{my fav foto from this week . . . and no, that's not a preggers belly.  just one too many tacos!}

What Love Looks Like

It's been so special spending part of each day with the team as they go into the small community of Durango to tutor the adorable kiddos there.  It's real love in action.

They come running from all directions.   Some in their tank tops and sandals, even though it's breezy outside.  Some with a used princess backpack.  All excited to have help with their homework.  All ready to give out big hugs.
{It's awesome that I'm an instant celebrity because I'm the sister of the bigger celebrity}

{my little mexican twin . . . with her matching nose freckles.}

It was so funny this afternoon.  We started taking lots of goober-self-photos at the back of the Missionary Van and afterwards realized that all the neighbors were watching.  Great.  We are now established as the awkwardly-awesome-obsessive-self-photographers.  Rep-Resent!!

I am so incredibly proud of my sister.  Do you see how beautiful and amazing she is?!
It's been so special to watch what she does with the kids here.
She is amazing.  And I'm proud to be her bestie.  And you should read her awesome blog.

{101 in 1001}

Have you ever made a bucket list a mile long, with all the things you hope to do before you die?!  Yeah. Me too.  And I better live to be one hundred and ten in order to accomplish all the things I would love to do.

Today I stumbled upon the most genius alternative.  Day Zero Project: Making a 101 in 1001 List.
101 things I would like to complete in 1001 days - - about 2.75 years.
SOoo much more practical.  And attainable!  Kinda breaking that massive list into tiny bite size pieces.

{Not to forget the spirit of fun in mexico, here's another snap shot from our adventures last year.  People think we are too lovey with each other.  To which we respond 'duh, we are besties and we hardly ever see each other.  So please sit down and zip it, kind sir!'  Or some nicer form of those thoughts.}

- - -

So here's my list. . .  and you are welcome to join us for the adventures.  Cuz I'll tell you all about them.  One step at a time.  If you'd like, that is!

How To Score A Free Golf Club

Today was awesome.  We went into a small community near Ensanada and tutored the little kiddos.
{By we, I mean, not me.  My would-be spanish is all jumbled up with another language.  Darn chinese on the brain.}

Anywayza.  That's pretty much blahblahblah compared to this story I'm about to tell.
{no disrespect to the tutoring and community work.  K? K.}

On our way home, traffic was something crazy-insane.  Tiffy did a great job maneuvering the big Missionary Van over the pot-hole-riddled streets and crazy drivers cutting her off.  As we stopped at a red light, we watched the freakiest thing ever.

As the light turned green, there was a momentary pause by the little white truck at the front of the line.  Suddenly the big red Jeep gave said truck a slightly perturbed bumper bump.

Then, right before our eyes, we saw the craziest case of road rage.  The first driver hopped out of his truck, grabbed a golf club from the truck bed and gave the red Jeep a resounding thump on his hood.  Whatthewhat?!  Freak-City.

Funniest thing about the whole ordeal was this.   While angrily throwing his golf club back into the truck, the bitter driver overshot and the dude in the car calmly sitting next to him hopped out, grabbed the abandoned club and drove away.

And that's how you score free golf gear in Mexico.  Bam.

Tonight Tiffy and I raided local grocery stores for the making of this sinfully delish mid-night snack.  Do you know how much I adore being with my bestie?!  It's just like old times.  Belting out tunes in the kitchen.  Laughing over silly jokes.  Making a mess at cooking.

Wow.  Love it. Two more days.

PS.  I am on a steady diet of dinner at taco stands with my fav coke from a glass bottle.  And I plan to continue this religiously until the day I leave.
And then it will be a mad dash back to the border for an epic kissing sesh with my hottie of a hubs.  Wow I miss him.
